A handful of users have recently told us that they continue to use PROMAS, but PROMAS may not continue to integrate with HERO PM. We wanted to share a little information that may clear the muddy waters.

First, every version of PROMAS that we’re aware of offers an integration with HERO PM for publishing owners, tenants, units, statements, documents, and the like in the cloud. There may well be some future version that doesn’t include this, but we haven’t seen it, and we’re not aware of it.

At HERO PM, we partner with hundreds of companies to provide the widest array of integration options for everything from payments to listings marketing to analytics. Each integrated partner company decides (usually after a comprehensive analysis of our mutual customers) what level of integration they want to offer. These options generally consider the partner’s technical proficiency, the needs and wants of their customers, and their financial bottom line – does the integration serve their business profit goals.

Our general policy is not to request nor offer exclusivity with our partner companies. While more profitable for the partners in the short-term, we’ve found that limiting options doesn’t serve our clientele well in the long-term. To this end, each of our partners is free to offer alternatives to their integration with HERO PM, and HERO PM is free to offer alternative partners to our members.

Over the years, PROMAS has done a good job of offering alternative integrations to their users. We believe that a rising tide raises all ships, and we welcome you to select the best available integrations for your business needs. Rest assured, HERO PM has no plans to disable your PROMAS integration or stop it from functioning. We have made great effort to maintain excellent uptime, support, and functionality of the integration and will continue to do so. Additionally, we have provided the option to lock in current pricing for all PROMAS users, which has not increased in over a decade.

In this era, there’s a lot of posturing that’s happening as property management software companies seek to grow. We welcome all questions as we go through this together, because even if it doesn’t impact our checkbook, it keeps us on mission making the lives of property managers better.

We’re not entirely sure of the source of some of the recent misinformation, but to help you, we want to hit on a few things we’ve heard recently, and the true information:

Overheard: HERO PM is turning off the PROMAS integration.

Truth: No. HERO PM built, and has continued to support the PROMAS integration for over 20 years, and has no plans to discontinue it. In fact, we just released a brand new server, at significant expense, to modernize and speed up PROMAS uploaded data.

Overheard: PROMAS is turning off their integration.

Truth: Unknown. Each of our partners can discontinue their offering at any time, as dictated by the terms they have established with their users. It is our understanding that if you have a version of PROMAS that includes the integration, that would continue to operate even if they release a new version that doesn’t include it.

Overheard: HERO PM is not a partner of PROMAS.

Truth: This one is quite curious. If you asked the property managers, or the hundreds of thousands of owners who get their monthly statement by way of PROMAS transmitting the data to HERO PM, they might think differently? We have not been contacted with any recent information that would lead us to believe HERO PM will not be a partner of PROMAS in the future, and we plan to continue maintaining the partnership as long as it is possible and helpful.

Overheard: HERO PM is replacing the PROMAS integration with a new product.

Truth: No. The PROMAS integration works exactly as the PROMAS integration always has. What HERO PM is doing is migrating all users to the newest version of portals, document management, and CRM, so their PROMAS integration works better, smoother, and easier. This is the next evolution of our platform, called HERO Harmony. It’s the 5th platform we’ve released that includes the PROMAS integration. (Long-timers may remember all the way back to our first platform, called USA Home Rentals, our second, with a name so embarrassing we won’t write it out, or our third, called HomeRentals.)

Overheard: PROMAS has an integration that is better/faster/cheaper than HERO PM.

Truth: Unknown. If there’s something that works better than the PROMAS integration on the HERO Legacy platform, we would not be surprised. Legacy is a very old platform that is less than perfect – it’s kind of a dinosaur. However, we would be very surprised if there is anything that’s better, faster, or cheaper than the PROMAS integration on the HERO Harmony platform. The Harmony platform provides the best portals, the best CRM, the best listings marketing, the best website integration, the best tenant payments, the best rental applications, the best document management, and much more, at an unbelievable price. If there’s something better, we say bring it on. We thrive on the motivation to always become the best we can be.

Overheard: HERO PM is increasing the price for PROMAS users.

Truth: HERO PM has never increased prices without significant advance notification, and users have always had the chance to lock in their current pricing whenever there is a price increase.

Overheard: HERO PM is competing directly with PROMAS.

Truth: Yes, over a decade ago, we approached PROMAS and told them we didn’t believe we could ignore cloud accounting and still be relevant down the road. We offered to join forces to build a cloud accounting platform to rival Appfolio, Buildium, and others. PROMAS elected not to move forward with this proposal; instead preferring to provide remote desktop solutions and attempt to build their own cloud solution. We were good with that – and it didn’t threaten our partnership, as we agreed there will always be people looking for a desktop accounting solution with a hybrid cloud option. We proceeded to build a brand new cloud accounting platform, as part of a property management suite we call HERO Harmony. In the past five years users have reported they like it far better than Appfolio or Buildium – it’s more flexible, more powerful, and much easier to learn and implement in many ways. Our commitment to PROMAS, and to our users, was that even though we were a direct competitor in terms of accounting platforms, we would still provide a PROMAS integration for desktop/remote desktop users, and we would not use our integration, or the data provided, to in any way take users away from PROMAS. As we continue to grow into one of the largest cloud-based property management platforms, our commitment has not changed.

We hope that this information offers some clarity. If we continue to hear strangeness circulating, we will keep you updated!
